Dealing with Energy Debt

The Smith family have been struggling to pay their energy bills and have accumulated significant energy debt over the past few months.

John and Sarah work hard to make ends meet, but their combined income is not enough to cover all their household expenses, including their energy bills. They live in an older, poorly insulated house, which means that their heating bills are higher than average during the winter months. On top of that, their electricity usage has increased due to both parents working from home on a regular basis.

As a result, the Smith family has fallen behind on their energy bills and are now facing action from their energy supplier.

John and Sarah came to us at one of our Hubs to ask for advice. With the support of our Energy adviser they were able to negotiate their debt with their energy provider, who offered to put them on a payment plan to help them pay off their energy debt. The energy adviser was also able to connect the family to other local charities and support services that could offer additional assistance.

Through the support of the Adviser the Smith family were able to pay off their energy debt and avoid having their energy supply disconnected. They also received advice on how to reduce their energy usage and make their home more energy-efficient, which would help to lower their energy bills in the longer term.

By taking proactive steps to address their energy debt and seek help from us, the Smith family were able to overcome their financial struggles and ensure that their home remained warm and comfortable for themselves and their children.
